Arbor's Shaping Ethos
Grip Tech + Parabolic Profiling
The system shaping philosophy underpins the design of every snowboard in our line. It allows us to create advanced true-rocker and true-camber designs. As a result we preserve all of the inherent riding benefits of these proven platforms by avoiding hybridization. Two distinct technologies make this possible:

Parabolic Profiling

We use a unique shaping technique that replaces the single radius arc found in traditional camber or rocker with a more advanced parabolic profile. The design blends five separate radii together to create a parabolic arc which gradually reduces the amount of rocker or camber toward the tip and tail. In our System Rocker shapes the design lowers the leading edge to improve edge hold. In our System Camber shapes the design makes the leading edge less aggressive for smoother performance. The blended five radii design also drastically improves our ability to tune each shape in our line for ability level, target terrain and riding style.

System Rocker
Arbor System Parabolic Profiling

Our System Rocker shapes are for riders who want:

  • A surfy ride with natural float, cleaner tracking across the snow and more care-free turns and spins
  • Best in class true-rocker edge hold on the steeps, at higher speeds and through any landing
Complete the system with Arbor System X Bindings

The System X Baseplate

FOUND ON ALL ARBOR BINDINGS
  • A proprietary design that transfers rider input out to four heel-to-toe convergence zones, improving edge controls and response time.
  • A concave design allows a board to flex more seamlessly by reducing flat spots for improved edge performance.
  • When paired with an Arbor Snowboard, the System X design improves the activation of Arbor's Grip Tech contact points.
  • This unique binding / board interaction provides maximum performance at speed, in steeps, amd through any turn, carve or spin.

Fender Tech

The edge control created by Arbor's System platform allows us to add Fenders that slightly lift a board's leading edge off the snow. This dramatically improves turning, spins, float and tracking on cambered snowboards.

Unlike "early rise" or "rockered" nose/tail transition zone, Arbor's Fenders create smoother performance without shortening the camber section of the board. As a result, you get a clean ride without any loss of the pop or performance that comes from full-length camber. Today, we use Fenders on the majority of our System Camber designs.

A great forgiving and smooth ride!

"I started later in life, at 25, on a high-end camber GNU that I had bought on eBay. Needless to say that $hit was like a stiff piece of steel that never met an edge it couldn't catch and was difficult to turn for a newbie. After many brutal wipeouts, I learned to ride it, but a few years later I wanted something more forgiving and surfy... this board did not disappoint at ALL. It was a game changer... and allowed my riding to progress to another level because I was able to relax a bit more and iron out the kinks. I still love it after 6 seasons. The Grip-Tech shines in icy conditions too... like, noticeably... I've watched people eat $hit around me while I charge through. Is it slower than the GNU? Yeah... but, that's fine... I'm older and wiser and a better rider because of it."

Great beginner board paired with Burton Step Ons

"My Riding Style is : All Mountain Height : 5 ft 8 in Weight : 150-160 Size Reviewed : 152 48 y/o man, wanted an attractive set up and my only (much younger) snowboarder buddy recommended "Arbor". I added Burton Step on bindings and read a Kevin Ryan (the illustrated guide to snowboarding 1997) book that was hard to find. I'm a snowboarder now and I've only bought two lift tickets!! That's right, with this set up, lots of you tube and some common sense I'm off the bunny hill in my second time out!! I found this year's version is made of a "sintered" base too (google it). I think this board is a real game changer. Also helmet, pads and all that stuff aside; out of 15 runs last night (second day out) I fell to my knees like maybe twice!?! If your thinking of this board or researching it I totally recommend, I got Formula Rocker and at first I thought the "grip tech" was a gimmick...but I really think it must be working. I have also used it a lot in my own back yard for practice. I have limited skateboarding experiences so YMMV. I waited as long as I could to write a review for this board and now with about 10 hours of riding on a hill I think I can say it was worth it. 5 stars for me based on my lack of previous boards...this one rocks."

All around FUN!

"I’ve snowboarded off and on for 17 years. I’ve always rode camber twins with medium to stiff flex. I had the itch to buy something more surfy that was not only cost friendly, but would be able to ride powder, park, and all over the resort. I was also able to size down 5cm in board length with the extra width under the bindings. The feel in powder is most notable, the nose gravitates to surface with minimal effort and turns are floaty yet still very controllable. The boards still carves well on groomers but I wouldn’t rate it for specialty on the hard pack. If you are looking for an affordable board that has ability to do little bit of everything and works great all around the resort this is a good pick!"
