Always attracted to any scene, no matter the place or the context, I realized how images can flirt with my brain. You can find beauty anywhere, from trash to nature. In these times of rushed living, we see so much every day. We don't look at pictures anymore, we consume them, we don't listen to music, we consume it, along with most other sensory enjoyments. There's no processing, just quick glances.
Photography has taught me to look closely, to understand why some images expand my mind. It took time and a lot of trial and error to get there, just like with skateboarding. You just keep trying and learning from your mistakes. With patience, you get better, and it makes you feel better too.
From the Zine
The interrelation between skateboarding and photography is undeniable. Skateboarding is aesthetic and every style is different. The position and style of the body, the environment, whether it's natural or manmade, gives a strong visual meaning to that interrelation.
Because of this, skateboarding slowly pulled me towards photography, first by just shooting tricks, then by training my eye to take better photos. It gave me the chance to travel and see the world. I am still amazed by how the beauty of a place is molded by so many factors; the architecture, the flora and fauna, the climate, the geography, the culture, the light...
It's all about that, enjoying the moment, whatever it is. Those are the moments that make us feel alive, and more human. When I'm on top of a mountain watching how the light shapes everything, it's unmistakable that everything is related. It's a priceless visual experience because part of the force of this universal beauty lies in the fact that it is ephemeral.
